I made a journal

On Sunday I went to another class at the same place where I made the box of cards last week.
This time I made a gardener's journal.
We used "Basic Grey" papers (aren't they lovely).
The cover is chipboard which we covered with the paper then stamped the name on an extra piece of card stock.
We added the embellishments last.
After we had made the pages and decorated them all we constructed the book and then added the spiral binding by machine.

This is a close up of the embellishments on the cover.

Here is the first section which is for Summer.
There are 6 pages in it--2 each for December -January and February and each month has instructions for jobs to do in the garden (in Canberra).

Here is Autumn and the months of March - April and May with there instructions as well.

Now we have Winter with June -July and August and ditto notes.

Lastly is Spring with September -October and November in here.

I will have to find someone to give it to because I don't like gardening and I can't send it too any of my blogging friends overseas because they are all upside down to us.
I haven't been able to take very good photos of this book because it just doesn't like being photographed and it keeps moving.
Anyway you get the idea as to what it's about.

Love the wee owl on the front, so cute. You don't garden? I'm surprised because I would have thought you did. Don't know why I would assume that, tho.

It looks really lovely Doreen, strange to hear you talking about a back to front gardening year.

What a wonderful journal, it looks like it was a really fun thing to do, maybe you could keep it and just put pics of other people's gardens in it at the right time of year, or pretend it's your own garden :-)

Hi Doreen!
I've really enjoyed this post and many of your other recent writing. The samples from the embellishing class are grand, but I'm still laughing about you having made this incredible gardening book while not even enjoying gardening! It sounds exactly like something I'd do...plus, I hate gardening too! The book is great looking though, and I'm sure there are plenty of "southerners" who would gladly fight over it!

Now, to change the subject, recently another fiber artist requested a trade for her very young granddaughter at CYBER FYBER. I wracked my brain for over two days trying to decide what to do since the age limit was previously set at eighteen in order to avoid any risk associated with requesting personal information (i.e. mailing address) from minors. Finally, I had to refuse the trade. In that note, I mentioned your invaluable role as my confidant and friend during the early days of CYBER FYBER...and that I couldn't trade with Ebony either. The stitcher understood, of course.

During my mental "deliberations", however, I had a brain storm of ideas. One of those included trading with Ebony. It isn't appropriate for CYBER FYBER, but I'd like to personally trade an ATC with your young stitcher. Please ask her for me!

what a lovely journal - maybe you should start gardening jut so you can use it. ( or make art of the garden you'd have if you liked gardening and glue them in and pretend)

Looks nice Doreen. I like the idea making a book about the seasons in the garden.

It's a fantastic journal, even if you don't do gardening. I love the little owl on the cover. I have a collection of them.
