I have used cheap watercolour paper 280gsm weight that I purchased from the local dollar shop.
I arranged the flowers and grasses between the paper and using a rubber mallet I pounded on the paper so that the colour transferred to the paper.
The flowers are Dandylions from the neighbours lawn and some grasses.
This has a watercolour painted look about it.
I think it would look lovely on fabric and then it could be stitched.
The second one has red Grevillea flowers at the top (they are the purple coloured ones) also some yellow Fuschias and more grasses.
I know you are going to ask about the colour and how long will it last.
All I can tell you is that I did some about nine years ago and the colour is still there.

These are very nice. I love flower pounding because the outcomes are so unpredictable! The flower on my banner was pounded onto calico!

I have to try this - in some months time!! I love the dandelions. We've had the first frost, and snow. Luckily it disapperaed after a few hours.
These are so lovely Doreen and look like very arty, freely painted watercolours. I must have a go myself, but will probably have to wait several months before any dandelions appear in the UK! I might find a late fuchsia or two. I can't believe such fantastic results from such a simple process. Thanks for sharing it with us.

these look really good - i saw some other pounded flowers and they just looked like a big messy blob. you obviously have a talent for this!
I've heard about this before but never tried it. Your examples are great....I especially like the second one but I have access to more dandelions than anything else!!

They look great Doreen - I tried some a while back with all sorts of flowers and - as you say the colours remain good - much to the incredulity of my colour chemist brother!!
