Somethings are Meant to Last and Others Aren't

Today is our Wedding Anniversary---47 years--yikes---and they said it wouldn't last.
Well we sure showed those doubters didn't we?
One of our wedding presents was a carving set with bone handles.
I thought that I would show you what it looks like today.
The handles are broken--maybe that is from all the carving that I did on those wonderful roast dinners that I cooked :-}
I haven't used them in years but I can't bring myselt to throw them out--well not yet anyway.
At least the marriage outlasted the handles.

Now all we have to do is make it last for another 3 years and we can celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Many congratulations to you both. And there was me thinking that I had done well at almost 40 years!!
Of course, like Val, I too was a child bride. *LOL*
I shall expect a full roast dinner next year. :)

Congratulations, fellow blogger! I, too, had a set of those tools, and my fork survived, however the knife has lost about 2 inches of the blade that broke...
I am delighted that I found your blog, as I follow some of your friends as well, and the FABRIC was the real draw as I am a "fabricholic" (smile)...I used to quilt in the day, and now my dear daughter in law is taking up the craft and has me again interested in inbibing! Your page/block exchange interested me so much. I shall come soon and peruse your pages, come visit when you can...
I am on Blogspot, but do most of my posting on Wordpress.com

Don't throw those out!!! They are so cool. My mother still has one of a set of nesting bowls (the rest were broken) which was the first household thing she bought after she got married. She waxed so poetic about them that I found her another set just like it on ebay for Christmas. Best gift ever! Sometimes it doesn't matter that things are broken.
