A big Decision

I have been procrastinating about this for over a week now and after reading Paula's rant (sorry -message) today I have decided to bite the bullet and just do it.
I have decided to add a "no tag" button on my blog.

I first saw this button on Janet's blog here which she obtained from here and after reading on quite a few blogs recently how people no longer wanted to participate in the awards and memes craze that sweeps blogland continually I felt it was time for me to make my stand also.
Now don't get me wrong I am not ungrateful that people think me worthy of these awards it is just that I find it hard to take them serious anymore.
In the beginning I was so chuffed to think that someone thought that my blog was great and that they even bothered to read it sometimes- but I just find it somewhat annoying to be persistently asked to pass the award on to other people and then feel bad that I don't really want to do it.
I have taken the stand of not passing it on, hoping it will stop at me.
I have apologised privately to the people recently who have given me awards --so hopefully they need not feel upset when they read this post.
I do often wonder who thinks up these ideas and how they start to circulate like the flu virus.
And I do hope that I have not offended all my internet friends by taking this stand but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
OK now I have that off my chest I will get back to stitching and hopefully create something beautiful.

Oh - I so agree with you Doreen! Feel exactly the same way. It is lovely when people give you awards but all this tagging and meme's get a bit much. And can take away from why a lot of us blog.

Think I will be putting one of these buttons on my blog too :)

thanks for the button Doreen. I've needed one of these for a while as I refuse to play ;))

Great post Doreen! I am lucky enough to never have been awarded or memed and I'm so grateful for that. I have dreaded it ever happening because I didn't know how I would handle it. To me they are like chain letters and any of those I get are immediately filed in the circular file.

couldn't agree more Doreen - I seem to end up forgetting and ignoring them - enough things to do each day as it is

Good for you taking a stand. As you say, its nice to think that people enjoy your blog - but enough is enough.

You know I agree with you! At first I was hesitant to put the logo on my blog but then I decided it's my blog and if I don't want to do something then why should I! I don't mean that in a rude way, just honest.

I hope this sweeps through Blogland!

Thanks for the button idea, Doreen. I also dislike the awards. It's nice to be recognised but being asked to select another group of blogs to pass it onto means that the awards will just end up going around in circles.

Well done Doreen! I totally agree & have followed your example of acknowledging but not passing on awards. They're just like those awful chain letters I ignored as a kid.

I'm just catching up and have found this post Doreen. I've pinched the Tag Free Blog badge for my blog for the same reasons you have used it. Thank you for the opportunity.
