TIF April Block

Finally I have finished my April block for the TIF Challenge.
Because I usually love working with these colours I thought it would be a breeze--but not so.
I really struggled with this block because everything that I chose to use looked very dull and boring.
I also changed the way I pieced the block in that the size of the different fabric pieces are larger than I normally do and I think this may have added to the problem.
I think I unearthed every bit of lace - silk ribbon - trims and buttons and beads that I owned to come up with this finished piece but I think in the end it has worked---well I like it anyway.
All the fabrics in this block are second hand--picked up at charity shops or trade tables.
In fact I think the only things on this block that I had previously purchased new before this challenge started are the silk ribbons and the butterfly motif--so the stash has reduced once more but not that much that it can be noticed.

Now to see what May brings..........

Very nice, Doreen, I'm always full of admiration for those who do crazy quilting: so much fiddly work but a beautiful result!

Maybe you had a hard time doing it Doreen, but the end result is truly beautiful. I love it - where do you find the time for all that fiddly work?
Cheers, Robin

Beautiful as always Doreen. I though it looked very peaceful and restful, but I love the little "flight of the butterfly" at the bottom right too. I've just started mine, VBG !!

I agree with Robin, lovely work, I have to think about mine, so I think it will be pretty simple, still trying to get back to some sort of "normal"!

This is just beautiful, sometimes it is harder to work in our own colours - I think it is the expectation we put on ourselves. However, this has turned out beautifully!

This is just beautiful , Doreen, I love everything about it!! It reminds me of something Edwardian, maybe it's the colours, with the lace of course.
Than you so much for your lovely comment on my blog post.

Doreen That looks absolutely beautiful. Having seen it part finished - and I thought it looked great then - the finished item is a million miles better. I can hardly wait to see the finished quilt when all the blocks are made

Doreen - it looks fabulous and certainly did not end up boring! And what a good feeling to be using recycled fabrics!
