I have made some more cotton reel tassels----some red and green ones for Christmas...............
Some pastel ones with a pearl trim..................
Some that are blue................................
All clumped together.
Altogether so far I have made about ten and I think I will stop now --well until I need more that is.

These all look stunning, I really must make some, I have some reels some where and you have reminded me how lovely they are.Are you interested in a swap, perhaps for a bird?
DSorren these are gorgeous, just lovely...have been on choke speed so am doing big catch up.....
They are all beautiful Doreen and could be made to fit any occassion. Love the Christmas ones and white ones would be nice for wedding favours. Such a clever idea. We will all be on the look out for old wooden cotton reels now!
Hmmm, my old cotton reels still have some thread on them, perhaps I should wind it off..........Yours are stunning. Cheers
I do like the pastel ones and they look really good all clumped together.
Oh you creative one! These are just lovely.
I can't imagine anyone not wanting one of these. They're simply gorgeous! I especially love the ones with the pearl trim. I think you've even surpassed yourself with these!
These are gorgeous! I think I like the pastels with pearls best.
Nice tassels.
These are stunning Doreen, wonder if I have time to make some for my stitching friends before Saturday's get together? Thanks for sharing you really are so clever !

I shudder to think of the number of wooden spools my mother had that just got chucked out. How I wish I had them now, because these are just plain adorable!!

I have done similar ornaments. I like to personalize them for the people I am gifting. Over the years I have done Doctor Who, Alabama football, Minions, Mickie Mouse, Ren and Stimpy, along with 'generic' spools. I use both sizes of the spools. As for the embellishments, I use beads, charms, and other bits of sparkle. To answer the question as to where I get my images - being a graphic artist with access to large format laser printer doesn't hurt.
