Well the story goes like this----I was cooking dinner tonight and I had some vegetables in a plastic bowl which was sitting on another oven plate waiting to be added to the steaming pot.
I then turned on another plate to cook the chicken strips that were going into a small frying pan.
I then noticed smoke coming from the plate--------------------
which had the bowl sitting on top of it------------
You don't have to be a genius to guess that I had turned on the wrong plate.
Uh oh one holey mess you could say.
The bowl --minus it's bottom with the coil plate showing through the bottom of it.
I will be trying to get the pieces of gunk out of the coils for ages not to mention the smell.

Ewwwwwwww! Bad & stinky error. Perhaps a new coil might be in order?
Oh Doreen! What a horrid mess to clean up - hope it hasn't damaged your cooker. We've all done something similar. Years ago, before we had an electric kettle, I let our old kettle boil dry and burnt the bottom of it right out. We had aluminium stalactites hanging down into the gas cooker and a very hot kitchen!
Oh dear! Glad you're okay, even if the bowl isn't.
Now this looks like something I'd do! I'm just glad you were right there because otherwise you might have set the house on fire. I think women should be banned from the kitchen and men should do all the cooking!
I think we've all done something like this at least once in our lifetimes. Good luck with removing the gunk from the coils - it doesn't sound like fun.
Oh my goodness. Hope it is not to tedious cleaning it up
Years ago, when showing pigs at the Perth Royal Show we boiled a kettle dry, burnt it to a frazzle and the smell permiated throughout the pig pavillion for some time much to our embarressment.
Oh Doreen, I'm sorry but I laughed out loud!! Yesrs ago, probably when plastic bowls had just been invented, my mother-in law put some stuffing in the oven. When she opened it there was a perfest bowl shaped piece of sage and onion stuffing with long stands of plastic falling off the shelf.
Been there done that!!!! Maybe you could incorporate that container into a creative exhibit for the Guild!!! Call it distressed and it's art.
Ooh I'm sorry Doreen, I had to laugh! But what an unholy mess you've been left with. I bet there aren't many of us who haven't done something similar at some time in our lives. I am forever turning on the wrong hotplate and I have cracked and broken several plates that have been sitting on there and just exploded when it got hot.Once I had a tea-towel go up in flames as well too. Luckily I was there at the time otherwise it could have been REALLY serious! Good luck with the clearing up.
p.s. Thank you for visiting my blog x
Surely you could turn this into a piece of art? Something about falling off the mortal coil? I can imagine the horrible smell all the way from Canada - yeeww. Glad you were right there before anything worse could happen.
Yup. Done that too!
Oh! You poor thing! My heart bleeds for you - having to clean up the mess!!
Ooops - and it certainly does smell foul too. Now how do I know that??
