Op-Shop Find

Today I went down to our church op-shop (thrift shop-charity shop) because I had taken home last week 14 Barbie and Ken dolls to wash and also wash their clothes.
I spent ages washing Barbies hair and coming it and if you have ever spent time doing that for your little ones you will understand it when I say what a time wasting job it is.
Anyway I digress--while I was there I noticed this wooden sewing box that had just been donated.
The stars sparkled in my eyes when I was told it was only $5 and my hand was in my purse quicker than a rabbit down a hole.
It is missing the handle that goes up and over the centre section but I can understand why it has been removed because I think it would have gotten in the way.
The man of the house said he could put new handles on it but I think I will decline the offer.

The lid on the top opens up and then----------

The centre section concertinas out and has all these little compartments.

What a treasure.

Enjoy your new found treasure. My brother bought me something similar for my 21st birthday.

I actually have one of these myself Doreen (bought new so many years ago that I can't actually remember where!). Mine doesn't have a handle and never did. I love containers so of course it appealed to me. I have used it to store lots of things over the years but it currently is the repository for all my metal rimmed tags. You got a wonderful bargain!

A great find! Were there any sewing items inside? Your hard work on Barbie paid off.

What a bargain - $5 for one of those is unbeatable.

I have always wanted one of those baskets Doreen - I think it is a left over want from my childhood days when one of my friends mother had one... Her was always full of treasures - off limits to grubby little hands... When it was closed I used to imagine it whispering it secrets... Good hunting and collecting there...

You got a great bargain! I love any kind of container and especially boxes with compartments. Now you get to fill it up with all your treasures.

What a lucky find Doreen. My grandmother had one similar but on legs. My mother inherited it and offered it to me, but I have so much stuff it would never fit in. My youngest daughter is now the proud owner of her great-granny's sewing box. You'll have a lovely time deciding what goes where.

What a bargain! I've had one for many, many years. Mine has legs and a handle. Because the handle is slim and goes across the short side, it doesn't get in the way of the lids.
I'm sure you'll have lots of fun filling each compartment: I use mine mostly for my sewing thread and needles.

A definite score Doreen! Now the big decision is what to store in it - my vote goes to sewing supplies.

There you see - when taking the Barbie dolls back all clean you discovered this beautiful workbox - just sitting there waiting for you to come back in! Lucky you - it will doubtless be your Treasure Box for many years to come.
