Guess What?

I'm doing some knitting---------------- Now knitting is something that I don't do much of anymore but I saw this strange looking fibre in our local fabric /craft store and it had a funny looking scarfe displayed near it that took my fancy. Well the blurb said it only took one ball and could be knitted in a couple of hours so I thought why not.

When you stretch the fibe out it looks like this-----

You loop the R/H needle through the pieces that I have pinned out above making 5 stitches then you turn the 5 stitches around and taking the next 5 pointy pieces you knit them through the previous stitches like normal knitting-----

and you end up with this ruffle scarfe..

Confused---well it is easy to do just not easy to explain.

Here is another view of it hanging.

I now just have to find another 80 minutes to finish it.

That is such a nice scarf Doreen, and isn't that fibre and what you do with it fascinating.

In the Netherlands it is a real hype now, Doreen.... Everyone wears a shawl from this yarn. There are many other yarns with more effects here. And it cost just a few hours to make it.....!!

Hi Doreen, I saw this scarf pattern on another site today and thought it looked fascinating - but I don't understand how it works. I suppose I could just try it but I have a couple of other knitting projects on the go at present.

Hi Doreen
Interesting scarf! At a guild meeting last year one of the ladies was making knitting a spiral scarf but she seemed to be using normal wool!!!! We all oohed and aahed and I meant to get the pattern details from her, now I can't remember which lady it was!!!!
You've been busy - I'm drooling over the juicy bits you got from Dale, I'll be very interested to see how you do the Flimsie pre felt - love the Paris colours of course!!
The book looks great too - how about a few pics of inside pages?!
Thanks for popping in, great to know I wasn't totally abandoned!

I bought a ball of that yarn from Dale a few months ago, in gorgeous vivid pinks and reds. I gave the knitted scarf to Belle in Canberra and stupidly forgot to take a photo beforehand! It was a lot of fun, but better for someone young and skinny to wear than me!

That looks so intriguing! I've seen pictures of the finished scarves, but didn't know what the wool/yarn/fibre looked like to begin with!!

Wow, I've never seen any yarn like that before. It looks hard to work AND explain! Happy Tea today.
