No More Curls

For ages now Ebony has been saying that she wanted to have her hair straightened--heaven forbid I would kill to have curls like she has-(had).
Before Christmas she got herself a fancy hair straightener and proceeded to do it herself, much to my annoyance but as she said it was her hair.
Anyway she has a birthday coming up at the end of this month so we all chipped in and let her have it done professionally at my hairdressers.
I could have supported 3 needy children is some war torn country for what it cost  but after all she is my grand daughter so what could I say.

I took this photo of her on Saturday morning when she woke up and like my DIL said "Tina Turner paid a fortune to get a style like that.
This is the first time she has ever had her hair cut in any style because before her hair had such tight curls, the hairdresser could not get a comb through it, but since she had been straightening it herself it was easier this time.
This is what she looks like now.

The style that the hairdresser cut had more of a wispy fringe over her face which I thought was beautiful but she likes it more this way..
Anyway she is the one who has to wear it and if she is happy then so am I.
They said if she looks after it the way that they instructed her to then it should last her six month--I do hope so otherwise we may have to hock the house to do it again,

I have two teenage girls, Doreen, and they seem to spend half their time straightening their hair and the other half, curling it. I think it's a girl thing! Of course, they have much straighter hair naturally than Ebony does, so it's a little different, but still - the number of products and gadgets we own for changing ones hair is truly remarkable...

Teenagers eh?!! Ebony still looks lovely no matter what state her hair is in. As she reaches maturity she will become wiser as to what looks best and how to wear her hair, but I'm sure she is delighted with her birthday present.

Beautiful girl - both ways - and yes, teenagers want to look how they want to.

Ebony is beautiful no matter what her hair looks like.

My daughter has naturally curly, blond hair and she insisted on dying it dark brown and straightening it when she was a teenager . We always want the opposite of what we have!

She looks fabulous - so grown up. Teenagers seem to like looking scruffy for a while then it seems to dawn on them that they will go a lot further in life if they look respectable, lol!

Oh she is a beautiful and refined young lady! The new looks super classy! (although I too prefer curls!)

I love the curls and would have given my eye teeth to have had curls of any kind when I was young.

The new look is certainly lovely and it makes her look very mature and beautiful.

She does look beautiful with her new hair style. I had never heard of straighteners (they probably weren't invented) when I was a teenager - I desperately wanted dead straight hair for a page bou cut which was all the rage - but my hair was far too wavy, sigh....

She looks lovely with the new look, but secretly I loved the curls.

I think most of us wish that whatever hair we were gifted with was the opposite. The old grass is always greener adage I guess. I like her hair both ways but I can certainly understand her wanting a change. She's beautiful, no matter what!

Ebony looks lovely with her straightened hair, but I agree many of wish we had her curls, my nephew (yes boys too go through this image thing) straightened his beautiful wavy hair for a time and now a he is little older his it looks much more natural and the wave has returned.

None of us ever seem to be happy with the hair that we have when we are young. Ebony looks lovely whatever she does with hers.

Your grand-daughter hair looks beautiful on her, and she also has the face for it too.

You have a very nice blog here and this is my first visit checking out your blog too.

Hi Doreen! I found you over on Pennys blog! Love the name of your blog! Your granddaughter is so beautiful! You will never like her hair styled the way she likes it styled!!! The curse of being the grandma (I am one too)! I think the straight style is really lovely and I hope she will enjoy it so much!!! Only having to do it twice a year is such a blessing!!! Well worth the money for her to feel wonderful!
