I have decided to do something different to what I have normally done.
I have made the base fabric using the chenille technique----
The fabrics that I have used are calico as the base fabric then a soft green cotton --then a very open weave indian cotton batik in a bright pink and blue.
Next was a white open weave cotton and lastly a floral Christmas print.
I layed the fabrics in the above order and stitched diagonally across them covering the whole piece.
When I had finished I slashed between the rows being careful not to cut the base calico fabric.
Next I wet the whole piece and normally you put it in the washing machine with a pair of old jeans and let them do the work--but because it was such a small piece I rubbed it with my hands to get the fluffing process started.
All in all I am quite pleased with how it all turned out and it is nothing like what was on the original calendar but what the heck.
This is the last of the postcards for this year and it has been wonderful to receive all of them with so many different techniques.
